Durham Cathedral

Durham Cathedral holds the relics of Saint Cuthbert, transported to Durham by Lindisfarne monks in the ninth century, the head of Saint Oswald of Northumbria, and the remains of the Venerable Bede. In addition, its library contains one of the most complete sets of early printed books in England, the pre-Dissolution monastic accounts, and three copies of Magna Carta.

Mother Shipton's

Within historic woodland along the River Nidd is Mother Shipton’s Cave, the birthplace of the famous prophetess. It is situated next to the Petrifying Well, England’s oldest visitor attraction. The attraction tells the story of Mother Shipton and the waters which turn objects to stone.

Kiplin Hall

Built by George Calvert, Secretary of State to James 1 and Founder of Maryland USA, in the early 1620s as a hunting lodge, Kiplin Hall is a unique Jacobean house filled with the furniture, portraits, paintings, and the personal belongings of the four families who have owned the Hall the past 400 years.

Roman Bridge

Discovered during gravel quarrying in 1972, the bridge provides valuable evidence of the engineering achievements of the Romans. The Roman bridge is one element of a much larger Roman site, which includes a fort, known to have existed from at least the 3rd century AD, and areas of civilian settlement.

Raby Castle

Raby Castle is surrounded by 200 acres of lush green parkland, where herds of red and fallow deer live wild. Explore the park and amble around the ponds to spot plenty of wildlife that inhabit this remarkable setting. We have 5 acres of traditional 18th century ornamental Walled Gardens which include fabulous yew hedges, a fig house, rose garden, trees, plants and ornamental features.

Thorp Perrow

Thorp Perrow is the most important Arboretum in the North of England and is unique to Britain. The Arboretum covers 100 acres and is currently home to 5 National Plant Collections and 51 Champion Trees. Situated in the Yorkshire Dales, not far from the historic town of Bedale, Thorp Perrow is an exciting place to explore offering something for everyone, and is home to some of the largest and rarest trees and shrubs in England.

Theakston Brewery

T&R Theakston Ltd is an independent, family brewing company founded in 1827 located in the Yorkshire Dales market town of Masham, North Yorkshire. The company is controlled and run by direct descendants of the founder Robert Theakston.

Black Sheep Brewery
