A Sunday Morning Reset

23 February 2024  /  Eco, Kirami, Relaxation, Wellness

Introduction

After a slow start to the year and a busy week of work and weekend antics; a Sunday reset was the perfect calling for us. We headed to The Kirami Wellness Experience at Kip & Nook; an outdoor spa surrounded by serene views of the countryside. A modern hub of calm luxury with a warm and rustic feel.

Sunday Morning

In true Kip & Nook style, the industrial container has been transformed with wooden tones and contemporary flare. The sauna sits at the back of the container, sizzling away, whilst a small living area welcomes you at the front. Warmed by the heat of the sauna next door, we were greeted by robes, water, and a healthy shot of ginger and fresh juice.

Large windows extend along the side of the container, creating a dreamy backdrop for your sauna experience. We were lucky with a rare, clear day in a dreary February, with blue skies that illuminated rolling fields and wild plants. A winding path wanders from the container to a small fire pit area with two chairs, which we came to realise were the best seats in the house to soak in the views.

On the surrounding decking area was an outdoor shower and what could be mistaken for a hot tub, until you dip your hand in… a cold-water tub. Cold plunge theory involves immersing your body in cold temperatures which has several health benefits attached to it: soothing muscle and joint pain, as well as mental rejuvenation in your mood and energy levels. It is a traditional Nordic practice to alternate from icy cold to hot temperatures, which is also tied to incredible benefits for both the mind and body.

With promised benefits in mind, I dared to brave the winter chill and submerge into the cold-water tub. An instant surge of adrenaline kicks in and I fight the instinct to leap out. Ignoring my partner’s giggling at my face, the icy temperatures began to dwindle (ish), although my toes remained utterly frozen. But it wasn’t long before I was racing through the container to sit in the warm haze of the sauna. My skin sizzling from the crisp water. And relax… It’s fair to say I enjoyed the sauna part of the cold plunge theory much more than the ice bath.

We repeated the alternation of hot then cold, sauna then ice bath, a few more times before we found ourselves sitting gazing out of the windows in utter bliss. A total recharge and restoration of the mind and breath.
