Introduction
When it comes to a night away, it’s hard to think of another destination that can match the experience at Kip & Nook. Just when you think it all seems so simple – cabins in the countryside – you catch word of another unique and inviting notion that draws you in. That’s what happened to us when we heard about… The Loft.
A self-contained, contemporary apartment, situated within the vibrant buzz of everything happening at Kip & Nook. For those that still want the sense of retreat and escapism, but want to retain a lively atmosphere to celebrate and enjoy as a couple, or as a group.
Upon Arrival
Our arrival at Kip & Nook was instantly greeted with the harmonious pairing of a friendly face and a coffee. We stepped into the infamous Workshop, expectations from pictures online at the ready, only to be completely stunned by the reality. Your eyes work double-time trying to soak in each element and detail; from vintage cars, retro signs, a pool table, and an industrial bar ornamented with every colour and shape bottle you can imagine.
As we checked in, and were given a tour of the space, it quickly became apparent that we had never stayed in a place like this before. Downstairs is a bright and welcoming space, with fresh decor and sunlight pouring in from the floor-to-ceiling window. The light captures a Scandinavian inspired dining area complete with a large wooden table, ample seating and textured cushions. To complete the ground floor you find a slick-modern kitchen, complete with anything a budding chef would need, including some yummy treats left by the team at Kip & Nook. We ventured up the spiral staircase to discover the ultimate cinema room…just for us! A huge sofa lines the edge of the room facing an equal-in-size, and grandeur TV; which made for a whole new experience of watching The Office before bed! Upstairs is engulfed in darkness to make for a snug and cosy evening – that is until you find the striking, runway lighting that cruises up the walls and ceiling, piercing the dark to illuminate the space. Seriously cool. I fell head over heels for the rustic master bedroom; lit by dim and intimate lighting, the king bed was plush and demanding of sleep. It was so soft. Meanwhile, in contrast, the bathroom area showcased a modern suite; featuring a large bath, sink, toilet and stunning, open shower room.
Our Evening
As the day ticked on, we found ourselves immersed within The Workshop, having a few drinks and playing games of pool and table tennis until I admitted defeat. The loss was quickly softened thanks to stone-baked pizzas, cooked fresh on site within the Workshop. As guests of The Loft, we were official neighbours to The Workshop, so decided to take our pizzas back to our temporary home. After stuffing our faces with cheesey-goodness, we discovered The Loft came with none-other than a collection of family-favourite board games. Naturally, the great war of Monopoly began… After a landslide victory, it was high time to retire upstairs to try out our incredible movie room; bringing a late night feast of snacks too. We almost considered going back to the Workshop, to continue the evening with more drinks and games. However, the instant I hit that sofa, there was no bribery in the world that could lift my sunken body up. That it until it was bedtime, and once again I fell into a comfort bliss.
The Morning
In a bed like that, we would have happily slept in till check out, however, an exciting morning awaited after booking The Breathing Room. A serene and calming space, booked privately for each couple, to relax, take advantage of the sauna or, (like us) try an early morning ice-bath dip.
Fully fuelled after a homemade breakfast in the Loft, we headed up to The Breathing Room which had been prepared just for us with robes and refreshments. As newbies, Ben kindly showed us how to get the best out of doing an ice-bath plunge, and left us to it with a few words of encouragement! Although it was quite a shock to the system, we were astonished to see and feel how our bodies coped, and dare we say even started to enjoy the ice-cold chill?
Our Good-bye
As we checked out, and said our good-byes, we left with an overwhelming sense of relaxation and delight. Our car journey home was filled with reminiscing of the unique details of the stay, and the possibilities of returning with friends since The Loft can house 4! We loved that in The Loft you can dictate what kind of stay you want, whether that be relaxing with each other in the privacy of your apartment, or venturing out to the social spaces available that are conveniently located right on your doorstep. All in all, well catered for and surrounded by the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside.
